Formed in 2006 by Christian Schooneveldt-Reid, Casey Douglas and James Brown In 2008, ThisSideUp toured Australia for three months followed closely by three months in Europe and the UK. The company works in collaboration with many other artists and support crew, as well as taking regular corporate bookings. In 2009, ThisSideUp created and toured (within Australia) its' 3rd major production "Down and Out". They also re-developed the internationally acclaimed show "Controlled Falling Project", performing to a sell out season, at "Artshouse" North Melbourne. Securing a 4 month tour of Spain, Italy, France, Austria and 3 week season at the "Udder belly" Edinburgh fringe, 2009 promises to continue TSU's growth and development as a dynamic, inventive and highly acrobatic performance company.
SHOW DESCRIPTION:
Developed in collaboration with highly respected Australian circus director Robin Laurie, Controlled Falling Project is high energy circus theatre suitable for all ages and backgrounds. The show is a combination of theatre, circus, clowning, dance, and percussion. Set in a old-fashioned laboratory three scientists conduct tests on themselves, measuring their physical boundaries is a mysterious scientist and his curious instruments. Together they explore physics and challenge the laws of gravity. A seamless balance between impulsive energy and systematic actions, Controlled Falling Project is a thrilling demonstration of high-level acrobatic skill, performed with vitality by this breath-taking company. Controlled Falling project has been performed in 9 countries, in over 50 festivals, to around 150,000 audience members – the show has developed from a backyard creation to a headline festival show with 5 star Edinburgh fringe reviews. The show is in continued development and is open to adapting to any unique and challenging performance scenarios.
